If there’s one rule in the horror handbook we should all know by now, it’s leave the abandoned orphanages alone. But, luckily for us, Hollywood never learns. Dropping in theaters this Friday, March 13th, is Scared to Death, a new horror film that, from the looks of it, is going to satisfy our craving for high-tension atmosphere and practical creature grime.
The film follows Jasper (Olivier Paris), an opportunistic production assistant who thinks he’s found the ultimate shortcut to the director’s chair. He suggests taking the cast and crew of their latest slasher, Dead House, to a real-deal séance for “research.” They pick a derelict children’s shelter with a nasty history: five kids found scared to death back in ’54. Once the candles are lit and the spirits are invited in, the doors lock, and the “research” turns into a fight for survival.
The casting alone is a love letter to genre fans. We’re getting The Queen of the Further: Lin Shaye (Max) and Chop Top Himself: Bill Moseley (Felix). Seeing them both in the trailer already has me sold.
Speaking of trailer… watch it here:
Written and directed by music video veteran Paul Boyd, Scared to Death promises to be a high-octane horror comedy that blends laughs with genuine chills. The film features an elite genre pedigree, starring Kurt Deimer (Hellbilly Hollow) and Rae Dawn Chong (new Interview With the Vampire) alongside creature effects from the legendary Legacy FX (Avatar, The Shape of Water).
Mark your calendars for March 13th.
